The Voice of Grace: Interview with Temitope O.

5:52 PM

My amazing people, I'm really excited to introduce this God-fearing, soulful and talented woman to you.
Apart from being a chronic music-lover, I'm particularly drawn to gospel artists. There are so many people who sing, but Temitope pours her heart and soul into her music. It doesn't stop there, she combines her career as a registered nurse with her music, and it seems so effortless. One of the things I admire about this woman is her smile; it is so infectious.

I'm sure you don't want to read only my words alone; so without further ado, I introduce the lady of the day, "TEMITOPE O"

Tell us about Temitope O.
Temitope O. is a child of God. She is also a young adult minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God North America and currently serves in the Choir department at Jesus House Cleveland, OH U.S.A.
She was born into a family of 6 with 4 siblings and is presently engaged to be married to a God fearing man who is also a minister of the Gospel.

When and how did you fall in love with Music?

I fell in love with music, when I started getting inspired to write and sing songs. You know when you start to study something you’re called into, you begin to learn a lot of things about it and the more you learn about it, the more you love it.

Who is your favorite artist and why?

I don’t quite have a favorite artist but I like soul lifting gospel music (i.e Good music with divinely inspired lyrics) and God could pretty much give that to any artist.

What are your other passions and interest?

I have a passion for the teenagers’ ministry especially young girls who haven’t fully discovered God’s plans for their lives.

Walk us through the process of your calling to become a gospel artist?

My calling as a gospel music artist began when I started receiving songs from God. Before then, I had not really known that God was calling me into the music ministry. However, as soon as the songs started coming, the grace to sing them and every other resource needed started coming through. To the glory of God, this is still the case till date.

There are so many gospel artists; what sets you apart?

The grace and gift of God upon my life makes all the difference in my life and ministry.

Your song 'Dance before Your Throne' has received a lot of popularity, what was the inspiration behind it?

I received the song 'Dance before Your throne' one day after I finished a very difficult exam. Prior to writing that exam, I had been through a lot of personal struggles and taking that exam didn’t make the burden on me seem any easier. However, my breakthrough came when the lord ministered to me to Dance before His throne and that was it! The song reminded me of the past victories God had given me, and it was a prophetic testimony for the delivery of the victory I needed at that time.

How do you combine your career as a registered nurse with ministering?

It takes the grace and the wisdom of God. My career as a Registered Nurse is quite demanding, but then the passion for my calling burns hotter inside of me. That is why even after going through a rough 12 hour shift, (and maybe hours traveling), I still have the energy to minister and be a blessing to God’s people wherever I’m invited. God has also blessed me with an amazing support system. God uses my family members, managers and friends to volunteer on administrative and logistics tasks while I focus on my ministry.

Tell us about your new album “Voice of Grace”?

The Album is my premier CD Album. It is a compilation of songs that will either get you dancing, or get you Praying or get you doing both. This CD album has been carefully packaged to give every listener the worth of their time and money. I recommend everyone to get a copy and share it with a friend.

What was the inspiration behind the name of your album?

The voice of grace came to me during my time of worship with God. The voice of Grace is the voice of God speaking to everyone to be converted, and transformed, and to forsake their old ways and return to him. It is voice of forgiveness, and healing coming forth from Calvary. It is a voice contrary to the popular believes of running away from God in your state of mess. Instead, the voice of Grace calls you to come as you are and receive the grace for sanctification and restoration.

What should listeners expect to take away from your album?

Listeners should expect to hear some good and inspirational music that will bring them closer to God and out of all their struggles. All the songs in this album were divinely given to me, so expect to be ministered to spiritually.

If someone had never heard about Jesus before, how would you introduce Jesus?

I would introduce Jesus as a lover- a diehard lover and friend. A friend who is loyal to you and knows your mess but is not intimidated by it. A popular hymn I like best describes it this way:
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus:
No, not one! No not one!
Jesus knows all about our struggles;
He will guide till the day is done….

What word do you have for people who are considering combining a career with ministry?

Be sure that is what God has called you to do. Then be bold and courageous as you embark on your assignment. It is really possible and you can do it! I’d also like to advise that living a kingdom priority lifestyle will take you beyond where your gift and talent will take you.

What word do you have for young people?

I’d like to encourage young people like myself to use their youthful days in seeking and serving God; to seek to understand God’s plans for them and stay with it.

It is also important for us young people to recognize that visions are the exclusive reserves of youths (Joel 2:28), so keep dreaming and working at it! Never give up on yourself or be distracted by the cares of this world, because God will never give up on you!
